Window measuring worksheet

One block per window. Print it and take it round the house with a metal tape, or fill it in here on your phone. It follows the method in how to measure windows for blinds — read that first if you haven't measured for blinds before.

  • Write everything in millimetres, width first, then drop.
  • Measure width at the top, middle and bottom, and drop at the left, centre and right.
  • For a recess fit, order the smallest width and drop and let the retailer make its deductions.
  • The retailer's own measuring instructions for the product you buy always win over this sheet.

Nothing you type here is sent anywhere or saved. Print the page or copy your numbers down before you close it.

Before you order

  • Check the recess depth against the minimum on the product page of the blind you're buying.
  • Each blind type has its own quirks — see the roller, venetian, vertical and roman guides, and bay windows if you have one.
  • Awkward or very out-of-square windows? A measure-and-fit service takes the measuring risk off you.
