Fitting cost estimator

Bought your blinds online, or about to, and want someone else to put them up? This gives you a rough budget for fitting only before you ask for quotes. It uses the indicative ranges from our guide to blind fitting costs:

  • roughly £10–£40 per standard blind, and
  • a minimum visit charge of about £40–£80.

These are indicative ranges, not quotes or survey data. London and the South East run higher, and a real fitter may price your job differently. Use the result to sanity-check quotes, not to replace them.

Indicative fitting-only costs, one visit

Blinds Total for the visit Works out per blind
1 £40–£80 £40–£80
2 £40–£80 £20–£40
3 £40–£120 £13.33–£40
4 £40–£160 £10–£40
5 £50–£200 £10–£40
6 £60–£240 £10–£40
8 £80–£320 £10–£40
10 £100–£400 £10–£40

How it’s worked out

Low end: the number of blinds × £10, but never less than a £40 minimum. High end: the number of blinds × £40, but never less than an £80 minimum. That’s why one or two blinds cost much more each than six: the minimum charge does the work until there are enough blinds to pass it.

What puts a job above these figures

  • Bay windows — more blinds, angled brackets and alignment time (bay window guide)
  • Hard fixing surfaces — tiles, concrete and steel lintels
  • Height and access — stairwells and tall landings
  • Heavy products — wide faux wood venetians, long vertical tracks, interlined romans
  • Region — the same job costs more in some parts of the country

What this doesn’t include

  • The blinds themselves. Add what you pay for them to compare this route with supply and fit — online vs local shop weighs the two.
  • Hourly handyperson rates. Often around £25–£60 an hour; for a batch of simple blinds that can be cheaper. Ask how long they expect the job to take.
  • Measuring mistakes. A fitter fitting blinds you ordered won’t usually cover a blind that’s the wrong size. Our measuring worksheet helps you get it right first time.

Next step: get two or three quotes for the same blinds and line them up on the quote comparison sheet. Not sure you need a fitter at all? See DIY vs professional fitting.
